It not just about feeling or dream, it’s also involves the step you take to go on with your life. If increase confidence sounds like something you want, you’re not alone because it’s something 97% of us say we wish we had more of, according to a recent online poll. Well, now we can. Research had found innovative ways to boost confidence and have made some surprising new discoveries, such as………………..
#1 Nodding while speak
New discovery from Ohio State University shows that nodding your head up and down while talking makes you more confident about what you’re saying! Maybe you keep thinking how it can boost your confidence. However, Richard Petty, PhD, co-author of the study and professor of psychology at Ohio State University says “It acts as a type of ‘self-validation’ that confirms to you how you feel about your own thoughts.” Study shows shaking your head from side to side while having conversation will decrease your confidence in what you’re saying! Nodding head while talking to other people not only increase your confident but at the same time will leave out others good impression towards you and make them feel interested having another conversation with you next time.
#2 Practise eating food contains high amino acid tryptophan
Food that contains the amino acid tryptophan as chicken, cheese, nuts or take tryptophan supplements are good to make people feels more confident about themselves. Recent study at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, volunteers who took three grams of tryptophan supplements a day reported feeling more confident in social situations. Want to know what makes tryptophan so effective? It boosts the brain chemical serotonin, which makes you feel relaxed and good about yourself and your ability to handle the situation you’re in, says Debbie S. Moskowitz, PhD, lead researcher of the study.
#3 Showing off your cell phone!
Sound strange? It might be sound ridiculous, but carrying your cell where others can see it – such as clipped to your waistband or to the outside of your purse - makes you feel more self-assured in public, according to a study at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia. The reason? “The phone suggests ‘I have friends’, so in a public space offers an image of confidence and autonomy,” explains Stephen Wearing, PhD, lead author of the study.
#4 Wearing sunglasses
Why wearing sunglasses? Glenn Wilson, PhD, a psychologist at the University of London says, “Shades not only make you look good, they make you feel more self-assured and in control”. The reason? People can’t make eye contact with you. “Your eyes can reveal emotions you may be trying to hide, so most of us feel exposed when someone peers into our eyes. By preventing this with a pair of shades, you feel less vulnerable,” explains Rando. But Wilson’s research shows that’s not the only reason your confidence soars in shades. Sunglasses also make you feel beautiful! “Sunglasses come in more styles, colours and shapes than regular prescription glasses. So, people usually choose a pair that flatters their face. And when something makes you feel more attractive, you’re naturally more confident!” Rando explains.
#5 Having companionship
Why taking risk going to a party alone where you don’t know anyone? You can choose being smart or later can make yourself feeling uncomfortable all the time. Feel like being daring and asking your hairstylist for a totally new’ do? For these times – or any time you need a boost – bring a pal along. Why? “Research shows that having a friend around gives you instant confidence and make you feel less stressed,” says Lisa Butler, PhD, a senior research scholar at Stanford University. The reason? “You know that no matter what happens, you’re not going it alone. You’ve got someone to empathise with you and to be there to help out if things don’t go as planned.”

I learned something, those were some excellent tips for increasing confidence. Here are some other great tips for increasing self-confidence -I want you to visualize the coolest person you know. A person who you believe because of the shear power of their personality would be able to handle any situation with confidence. This could be a fictional movie star or someone on TV, mother, father, it could be anyone at all.
Next I want you to practice watching what they do and imitating their mannerisms and behavior. Here is where it greatly helps if that person is a movie or TV personality. You can study their mannerisms, voice inflections, how they stand and more.
For example Rhett Butler in Gone With The Wind - does he ever show any doubts or lack of confidence. Any James Bond movie - does he ever act timid? Don’t think so. Practice speaking with confidence like these characters and you will find yourself gaining confidence.
