<p>How do I know, whether my pet is overweight?</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re unsure on your pet&#8217;s optimum weight. Perform this simple test. Place your hand on their rib&#8217;s cage with your thumb on their back. If you can feel the ribs easily, your pet is considered to be normal weight.</p>
<p>If you can feel fat between the skin and the rib or the rib are difficult to feel, your pet is overweight. In some pets, particularly cats, a large abdomen that hangs down may indicate obesity.</p>
<p>Owners should check their pet&#8217;s condition at least once per-month, as obesity is a very insidious condition frequently only noticed after the animal has gained a significant amount of weight. Obesity can lead to conditions like arthritis, respiratory problems, heart disease, skin problems, heat intolerance, urinary problems, increased anaesthetic risk, constipation, diabetes, general discomfort and a shorter lifespan.</p>
