How to avoid bad beauty habit and maintain gorgeous
Sometimes, we didn’t realize what we did everyday such as laughing, rubbing, scratching or any under control actions may bring to bad beauty habit. You may feel guilty every time you touch your face or rubbing all over your body, but you can’t control that itchy hand. Here are some habits that may cause damaged to your skin, hair, the whole body or even your health. If you think you had those symptoms, you should find ways to stop doing it before getting even worst. Read on to find out how to kick that habit.
Habit #1 Avoid licking your lips
You think by licking your lips many times will keep it wet and moisturizes. But you’re totally wrong because licking them cause to balm removing. Lips are constantly exposed to the sun’s rays and thus are susceptible to sunburn. Your saliva actually forms a “lens”, which intensifies the sun’s rays. How strong is that? Just think you can burn ants with a magnifying glass. To break that bad habit, smooth on lip balm instead of wetting your lips and re-apply whenever your lips feel dry. Look for new products with special formulas that bind to lips, helping the balm stay on for longer. Also use lip balm with SPF 15 and above. To undo the damage of your lips, use lip balm which content jojoba oils and pro-vitamin B5 to keep your lips keep moisturizes. Try to skip those balms with flavor, because they may tempt you to lick your lips.
Habit #2 Avoid biting you nails
Are you the super nervous type who chews off half her nails at the hint of a crisis? And some did it without purpose and start become their habit. It’s not only a “dirty” habit and give bad effect to your health but says nail expert, Selinna Tan, it can weaken nail growth and make the cuticle hard and ragged. Further more, if you accidentally did it in front others, it looks not polite and may spoil your appearance. To avoid you make shame on yourself, apply a dab of cuticle cream which can softens your cuticles and strengthens nails. And to get back to your beautiful nails, get a manicure – it’ll tidy up the nail area and help keep you from biting your nails since you’ll loathe to ruin your beautiful manicure. Another trick is to paint your nails in a dark color, which will remind you not to nibble! Try artificial nail extensions or overlays to keep your teeth from getting to your real nails. It’s better than do nothing at all! Right?
Habit #3 Avoid using one moisturizer for everything (body, face, eyes)!
Be careful with skin around your eyes because that area is the most delicate. And next is facial skin. Then comes to the epidermis on your body, which can withstand the most “abuse”! Hence, the skin around your eyes shouldn’t be subjected to the richness of a body moisturizer. Briefly, you can’t use the same cream or moisturizer for body, face and eye area especially if the moisturizers is specially formulate for certain area. Of course you can use face or eye cream to moisturize your leg and body if you can afford it but not otherwise. To keep your skin well moisturizes, healthy and beautiful, get three separate moisturizers: One for eyes, one for face and one for body. Use an eye product that targets specific problems such as fine lines, puffiness or circles. Choose facial product that is suitable for your skin type (oily, combination or dry) and concentrates on the problem you wish to address, such as smoothing wrinkles or brightening a dull complexion. Parts of your face that are naturally oily, such as the T-zone area, do not require extra moisturizer. Instead use a water-based hydrator to prevent dehydrations. Apply body lotion after you shower when your skin is still damp – this helps seal the moisture into your skin.
Habit #4 Avoid popping pimples
I hate pimples very much and so do you and I’m very sure every time you saw them, without thinking your hand already there to pick them. Hahaha…Sounds funny? But that’s fact. The truth is, zits suck! No one can stand over it. So, here’s the deal on what to do when you see that big, red honker on your face. Don’t squeeze it! Going at it your with your fingernails can push bacteria deeper into the pores and cause more inflammation, infection and scaring. Committing this cardinal sin of skincare will only make it take longer than the lifespan of a zit (roughly a week) to heal. Covering your fingertips with tissue doesn’t help either because every time you break the skin, surface bacteria that is already on your face can still penetrate it. To avoid your skin getting worst and your hand keep squeeze it - resists the urge, just tell yourself that you would rather live with this blemish for a few days than have a scar remain with you for the rest of your life. Remember that! You can try a gel or cream with ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or a sulfur-zinc combo to dry it out. If it doesn’t seem to work out, ask a dermatologist to give you a cortisone jab to help it shrink within a day.
Habit #5 Avoid flicking your fringe
It is impossible to avoid your hand from move around but try to keep your hands off your face since your hands are touching things all the time and picking up bacteria. Rubbing or touching your face can stimulate oils glands to produce more oil and increase the risk of transferring bacteria from your hands to your face, and from there right into your pores. If you still can’t avoid your hands from touch your face, the best way is by wash your hands first. And if you are especially sensitive to hair in your eyes, try to avoid keeping a fringe or pin it away from the face with bobby pins or use a hair band. Also, keep tissue handy any way you go to wipe your face if necessary.
Habit #6 Avoid rubbing your eyes
As I said above, the skin area around eyes is super-thin and sensitive to touch. Rubbing and tugging at it will soon make lines and wrinkles a mainstay on your face! The most important one is never pull or stretch your eyelids when cleaning off your eye make-up. Even it is not easy to break this habit, you should refrain from rubbing your eyes even if your hands are clean and it feels so good to relieve the itch at the time. Instead, try warming your palms and gently cupping them over eyes to soothe and relieves it. Cleanse your eyes with an eye wash if necessary. To effectively remove your eye make-up, press a cotton pad soaked with eye make-up remover against your peepers for a few seconds before gently swiping off the residue. Keep eye drops for the temporary relief whenever your eyes feel uncomfortable because they are dry.
Habit #7 Avoid brushing your hair when it is still wet
Pulling or brushing hair when wet will stretch the hair and eventually break it. Hair is made of keratin chains, which are held together with disulphide links and hydrogen bonds. The hydrogen bonds break when hair is wet and reform when dry. Due to the lack of hydrogen bonds, wet hair is up to 30 percent weaker than dry hair. Chemically treated hair has weaker hydrogen bonds, even when dry. To avoid your hair from break and fall, do not ever brush your hair when it’s wet. If absolutely necessary, comb through with a wide-tooth comb to detangle. Blow dry your hair, and make sure it’s really dry, before brushing your tresses or hitting the sack. Keep your hair healthy, just towel dry your hair as much as possible. Gently squeeze or press hair with a towel instead of rubbing it vigorously. Then blow dry hair strands with a high-heat hair dryer to speed up the process if you are in a hurry. Make sure you don’t hold the dryer too close to your hair when blow drying to avoid damaging them. Try to use dryer which has a Negative-Ion technology to leave your hair moist and soft.
Habit #8 Avoid hunching or tensing shoulders
Relax! If you sit in front of computer all day, you tend to tense or lift your shoulders up. It is also easy to hunch if you sit at your desk for hours without moving, causing your neck and shoulder muscles to tense up. Problems can compound if they are not addressed, leading to bad posture, chronic aches and muscular pain. To avoid you doing those moving more and more, try taking more breaks to walk or stretch. Terry Liew, principal of The Shiatsu School, recommends stretching for five minutes once every hour while at work. For those who have trouble remembering to stop and stretch, Liew suggests drinking a lot of water. Every time you have to got to the bathroom, stop and stretch - this should work out to be once every hour or so. If your problems persist and become severe, you will need to go for a session of massage therapy at least once or twice a month. Yoga and daily gentle stretching exercise also help in the long run, strengthening your body so that it can hold up your posture better. Alternatively, seek out a chiropractor to help straighten you out.
Habit #9 Frowning and other wrinkle causing facial expressions
We can’t avoid this facial expression from happen. It’s naturally happen whether you’re showing joy or anger; you’re not spared from contributing to what’s called dermo-creasing. It occurs through the constant movement of facial muscles and tissue. Research shows that there are over 15,000 daily facial movements generated by repeated contractions of the underlying muscles each day, because of the way our face expresses emotions such as surprise, joy, sadness, anger, worry and concentration. This repeated creasing action is the main cause of the formation and deepening of wrinkles. Thinking about what 15,000 daily facial movements can do. However, you can kick that habit for good by getting your friend to point out to you whenever you frown. And don’t take offence! To keep your plump skin, you can have botox injections for temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. It’s a simple medical procedure performed by dermatologist. But for something less painful and non-invasive, you can try Anti-Wrinkle cream but make sure it’s not too hard for your skin. You also can try facial fitness massage: Place your index fingers horizontally on your forehead, so they parallel to the eyebrows. Pull down with your fingers while raising eyebrows. Release, and then repeat ten times. This exercise can reduce your fine lines and relaxing your muscles.

Trackback by Anonymous on January 27, 2007 at 9:37 pmExcellent points! However, please don’t assume that these are only important for women… I have some good friends (e.g., an ex=brother-in-law) who had some very annoying tics (habits) that as you point out sure weren’t good for him either.

Hi Bill…Yaa…I didn’t deny it also practiced by men out there, it just more women love doing it. Maybe you can gives him some tips here to stop that habit. That’s not only bad for his appearance but gives effect to his health too.
Commented by MiSs LiLy on January 30, 2007 at 10:12 amI’m not surprised that we agree that it’s not a gender-specific issue, although is may be a habit more prone to women (for a variety of reasons). There are numerous ways to reduce or extinguish the habit, too many to innumerate here. I would bet, however, that if he put himself under a microscope and examined what he’s doing and what’s really behind it, issues such as self-esteem and self-image would surface.

I agree with you. But sometimes we can’t blame them for what they do, it just like they don’t comfortable with themselves and start scratching around their body. Many other ways to stop it but the best way is trying to avoid doing it from the start.- because once they practiced, they’re tend to do another time. Self-esteem and self-image: I agree they so much connected to what they feel about themselves.
Commented by MiSs LiLy on January 30, 2007 at 12:19 pmWhen you say, “they so much connected to what they feel about themselves” I’m reminded that research has clearly demonstrated that while people engage “learned behavioral responses to stimuli” they also can engage “learned emotional responses to stimuli.” So, one person can look in the mirror and feel wonderful about what he or she is seeing, and another can look in the mirror and feel terrible. And as you point out, what the person sees (perceives) and how the person feels, for them, is very real (it’s their reality, and sadly enough, frequently very painful)
