Man Boobs: Causes and Treatments

By Robert Kokoska

Man boobs are an embarrassing condition. There are many men who suffer from this condition and have tried to correct the situation without success. This is because it can sometimes be a serious condition, which may require more than just a little diet and exercise to correct. The medical term for man boobs is gynecomastia, which basically means womans breast. There are two types of gynecomastia. The first type, which is caused by a medical condition or medication that the man is taking. The second type of male breasts is pseudogynecomastia which is generally due to obesity.

We find man boobs occurring in male infants right after birth. Their little breasts appear enlarged due to the mother’’s hormones. In young adolescent teenage boys this condition sometimes reoccurs not because of the mother hormones but due to an imbalance in their own hormone levels. This type is considered a medical condition. While male boobs is not a dangerous condition itself it can be a sign of a more serious underlying medical condition and should be properly diagnosed by a physician. In adolescent boys this condition usually corrects itself in a few years as the hormone levels tend to equal out. If the adolescent boy is not over weight than this condition should correct itself and the breast will return to normal in a few years. If they are associated with an obese boy than a diet and exercise program can be introduced to help with reduction.

In older males who develop the condition it can be more difficult to diagnose. In 25% of man boob cases the occurrence is unknown. There are several medicines that can cause the development of the problem. There are also many medical conditions that are also associated with the development of man breasts. The obvious reason would be obesity. If you are a male with the condition, trying a diet and exercise program to reduce the size is a great first step.

To try and eliminate gynecomastia through diet and exercise you will have to introduce a cardio workout while also targeting the pectoral area as well. Working just the pecs will not reduce the size. You will need to lose the weight first to reduce the size of the mammary area. In many cases surgery is the only way to completely eliminate the problem due to the excess mammary tissue. This tissue must be removed through cosmetic surgery to reduce the appearance.

No matter what your age or size if you are suffering from man boobs it is important to speak to a medical physician about your condition. This problem can sometimes be easily corrected by changing medications or discovering and treating an underlying condition. It is important to remember that it is not a dangerous condition but it can be a sign of a dangerous condition such as testicular cancer, chronic kidney disease, or chronic liver disease. There are many reasons why you are developing male breasts and it is always best to have this condition checkout by a medical professional.

Ideas For Adult Dating In Boston

By Jennifer King

When you'’re adult dating in Boston it can help you to have a few ideas of where to go on your date. The first date is always the hardest, and once that’’s out of the way it’’s time to find out more about your new partner. You will find out more if you move away from the more traditional date venues like restaurants, and start injecting some fun into your days out.

Bowling is a great way to spend a second date. It’’s fun, and you don'’t need to worry about what you have to say next as the activity will create conversation. Bowling is even more enjoyable if it’’s a first time for both of you as it will add some humor to the date as you both try and learn how to bowl straight.

Bowling is also inexpensive, and it’’s a date that is over fairly quickly. You don'’t want your dates dragging out as you want to create an “I can'’t wait till the next date” feel in your new boyfriend or girlfriend. Once the boredom sets in the next date probably won'’t happen.

Catching a movie is another way to have a date without the pressure of making good conversation. You could go for a drink in a bar first so you can relax and have a chat then go to see a movie. If you'’re the man in the relationship then you'’re probably better off going to see some sort of chick flick first. Once that one’’s out of the way you can then go and see the latest action/martial arts movie.

Roller skating or ice skating are two more activities that can inject some fun into the date. Dates like these are a good opportunity to see just how much fun your new boyfriend or girlfriend is. The more you vary the dates the more you will find out about someone, and whether they'’re compatible with you or not.

Window shopping is another fun and inexpensive way to spend a few hours together. You'’ll get to find out each others fashion likes and dislikes, and you should get some ideas for birthday gifts if your new relationship blossoms.

A day at the races will be an exciting date. You get the chance of winning a few dollars as well as enjoying each others company. You can have a few drinks, and a meal there as well.

Not as exciting as some of the others, but it may fit well in your relationship is a visit to the local gallery or museum. If you or your partner have never been before then you may enjoy it more than you think you will.

The Right Kind Of Pride Is A Virtue

By Kevin Sinclair

Is there something you are particularly proud of in your life? Pride in what you have achieved and in who you are is a good thing when it is based on something genuine. It is a positive thing to be able to have qualities of character you can speak well of to others and to believe about yourself. In fact, it is admirable. Don'’t be afraid to be proud of who you are. Pride reflects a passion for who you are and for life in general. With the right kind of pride in our lives we can live fully and passionately.

Pride is really the result of being aware of our own personal power. Pride is actually a by-product of our success and in turn strengthens us so that we become even more successful.

Pride can give you the courage to fight for what you want and to refuse to be walked all over. The right kind of pride in who you are and what you represent will help you achieve mastery in your life whereas those who always defer to others live lives of quiet desperation. Pride can give you the gift of personal freedom. It can help you feel more powerful than any difficulty you may confront. It will give you confidence that you can achieve whatever you set out to achieve in life. Nothing will be impossible to you. When you have a sense of personal pride you will not allow yourself to be controlled or limited by other people because you are the master of your own destiny.

Lions roam in prides. The power of their roar and their very attitude reveals their pride in being the “king of beasts.” Not only do they win the game, they eat it. They are the conquerors, not the conquered. Conquerors are the survivors throughout our history and they shape the evolution of mankind. You too, can become a conqueror. Remember, nature rewards the strong and the proud.

In a study of men across a large area of Asia, it was found that eight percent of them were descended from Genghis Khan. Do you realize that your ancestors also live on in you? In fact, you are the result of their pride.

Pride is a natural consequence of honor. We honor people for their great accomplishments and qualities. So, we should also honor ourselves and let others honor us. When we honor others we help them to grow in personal pride. Pride is not a bad thing. It is not arrogant and selfish. It actually means you have a purpose and personal integrity.

Don'’t be afraid to feel proud. After all, you have earned the right. You can feel proud that you are alive because nature favors the strong. You can feel proud because you an extraordinary creation called a human being and you are unique. Feel pride in your choices and the direction you are heading, for the destiny that is yours. The right kind of pride will help you become the person you want to be and guide you to a series of successes. True pride is a reflection of greatness.

Have you ever heard someone criticized with words like “he has no personal pride?” It is not a compliment. When you have pride you are living up to certain values and setting a good example in the world. By taking pride in your work, you can build a reputation for excellence that will take you far.

Pride is a cousin to willpower and determination. These qualities create a strong human being, whether male or female. Such a person may at times be demanding but they are also in demand. True pride can motivate us to do our best work and is a quality possessed by those of high character. Individuals who seek to achieve great things for both themselves and others are also proud human beings.

More than anything your personal pride reflects your belief in yourself. You are alive and you have a purpose for being alive. It feels good to live with pride, to have high self esteem and to respect yourself. You deserve to have pride because you are a valuable and worthwhile human being. Living with pride will give you a sense of satisfaction with life and empower you to achieve success.

It may sound simplistic, but it is a lot better to feel happy with yourself than otherwise. Self criticism can wear you down and keep you from being successful but pride in who you are can lift you up and help you do well in life. Let’’s face it, no matter where you go you have one constant companion - you. If you have pride in yourself you won'’t feel the need to hide from who you are. You will be comfortable in your own skin and happy to spend time with yourself.

Personal pride provides a sense of self confidence that magnetizes you for success. You will attract the things you desire into your life. Let’’s face it, you are so wonderful, marvelous and absolutely fantastic that you deserve the good things of life.

There are so many things in your life that can cause you stress. Once you begin letting this stress consume you, it will continue to pile up until you feel like you can'’t even see straight. The important thing is to remember to remain calm and try to take all of life’’s challenges in stride. Deal with each situation individually and then put it aside. You will feel more victorious if you are able to battle things head on, and not become nervous over life’’s little problems.

Before moving on lets get on the same page and define what exactly is stress/anxiety.

Stress is the body’’s response to any demand or pressure. These demands are called stressors. Stressors include major life events, such as a divorce or the birth of a child. They also include chronic strains that last over a period of time, such as living on unemployment. And stressors include daily or occasional strains, like taking care of a sick child. In a nutshell, stress can mean different things to different people. Traffic jams, deadlines, eating on the run, bills to pay, job changes, endless chores and errands, and demands, demands, demands.

Whatever the stressor is, it requires the body to make physical and chemical adjustments in order to maintain the necessary physiological balance for survival. A racing heart, a burst of energy, insomnia and muscle tension are the body’’s physical responses to demands.

The brain is such a funny thing. It is the epicenter of pretty much everything, controlling body functions, movements and of course emotions and personality. But sometimes there can be glitches, and the overworked brain may malfunction from time to time. When emotions are not kept into check, they can become magnified, and may cause problems. Nervousness and worry are two of those elements that can be a problem if they are not carefully monitored. What happens as a result is that they turn into full blown anxiety.

When the problems become bigger, it does get increasingly difficult to handle. But, if you do not want to feel the effects of full blown anxiety, keep your composure and work through all that bothers you. If you give in to the nervous feelings, then not only will you feel anxiety, but eventually you could suffer from other things like depression. It is essential to stay focused and to keep your cool. Nipping the problems in the bud before they get out of hand is key to keeping anxiety at bay.

6. Laugh - rent a good comedy film or read jokes
7. Meditate
8. Take a hot, relaxing bath
9. Take a long walk - getting fresh air lifts your spirit
10. Have a positive attitude

You cannot keep your sanity unless you give yourself a mental break. In fact, medical professionals actually recommend respite and recreation in order to keep a well-balanced life. Maintaining a hobby or creating fun mental diversions will certainly help you to keep your sanity quite often. Happiness is one of anxiety’’s many enemies. If you do not want to fall prey to extreme worry, think positive.

Do yourself a favor and take it easy. Clear out all of the mental clutter that is preventing you from being truly at ease and rejuvenated. The less your brain has to work on fixing anxiety and stress, the more it can focus on what makes you feel good, inside and out.

There is so much misinformation about speed reading that as a user for over 30 years, and as an instructor of tens of thousands of learners from all walks of life and all levels of education, I feel compelled to debunk some of the most prevalent and popular myths. However, before we begin, it is essential to define what is reading.

Reading Defined

Although definitions may vary somewhat, reading can be defined as the act of interpreting visual symbols and deriving meaning from those symbols (letters, words, etc.).

If you accept this definition, then it follows that reading is a cognitive thinking skill. Therefore, one can read, as fast as one can think (or interpret) the visual symbols. So when someone wants to learn to speed read, there is a two-fold problem.

One is seeing the symbols more quickly (that’’s the easy part), and secondly is getting the mind to respond more quickly. Said simply, there are 2 components to speed reading -developing the mechanical skills of getting the eyes to move more efficiently, and learning to push the mind to think and respond more quickly (comprehension).

Myth # 1 “It Doesn'’t Really Work.”

This is both true and false. One of my biggest challenges with learners is the notion that if they enroll in a program, then magic will happen. Because of the nature of learning a new system of skills and habits is difficult, the learner must immerse themselves completely in the experience and let go of preconceived notions of what they believe about themselves as learners and loosen their attachment to the “see-say-hear-understand” habit they grew up with. What I tell learners is, “it doesn'’t work, you work it.” In other words, Dynamic Speed Reading is a system, a methodology to be applied to the act of reading, but the reader has to bring themselves and their mind to the process. One technique outside of the process will not work for all reading situations.

Myth #2 “Speed Reading Is Merely About Moving Your Eyes Fast”

False. Although historically this is true, and most programs today focus almost exclusively on the speed of eye movements, this statement contradicts the definition of reading as stated earlier. In fact, this is the primary cause of cynicism and skepticism towards the concept of speed reading. It is not reading if you merely move your eyes and see all the print.

Learning the mechanics without learning the comprehension process is only part of the solution. If someone is serious about wanting to develop their efficient reading skills, a strong emphasis on how to build comprehension is critical for success.

I do not recommend software programs, or any other type of mechanical devices because of this. By definition, you can only read as fast as you can think or respond to the symbols on the page. Comprehension, or the cognitive skills, must be developed as well.

Myth # 3 “When Speed Reading You Lose Comprehension”

Again, false. Although the answer to this is included in myth 2, this needs additional explanation. As I explain this, keep in mind the premise that you are not reading if you are not comprehending. Comprehension means understanding.

The myth that speed reading and good comprehension don'’t go together has developed not only because most programs focus on merely speed, but also because of the nature of the adult learner trying to change a lifetime of habits around.

Typically the adult learner has formed the belief/habit that in order to comprehend well, you need to start at the beginning and read word by word to the end in a linear fashion. This belief/habit was formed as a result of early reading training from school days. However, research has proven that comprehension is a process. In other words, we need to build comprehension like we build our learning of any other skill.

A useful analogy would be to take a trip to a new state, province, or country. You would start by looking at a map to get a general sense of direction of where you are to where you want to be. Next, you might look at the major highways that lead you there. Finally, you would focus on the specific streets that would get you to the point of your destination. Reading comprehension experts agree, comprehension must be built. Stated differently, you need to “prepare the mind to read.”

Another part of this myth’’s development is due to the fact of the nature of the learning process in developing speed reading skills.

As the learner works on breaking the habit of focusing on individual words both visually and cognitively, a dynamic flow of eyes over stimuli (words) needs to be achieved in order to create meaning faster. Here we are talking about the mechanical skills. As the speed reading student first enters this phase of development, comprehension will decrease initially as he/she struggles to learn fluency of the mechanics.

This can be compared to first learning to drive a car. Remember? You had to focus on managing all various pedals, buttons, and mirrors while simultaneously navigating this ton of steel down the road safely. If you'’ve been driving for years, you might not even be able to remember how clumsy you felt.

Another good comparison would be learning how to do a new dance. The learner needs ample time to build fluency.

Myth #4 “Speed Reading is Merely About Skimming, Scanning, Key-wording”

False. Skimming is sample reading portions of text - a sentence or two here and there, or some other approach. Skimming is a good “pre-reading” technique, but is not “dynamic speed reading” in itself.

Scanning, by definition, is to glance from point to point often hastily, casually, or in search of a particular item. We may scan the telephone book for a particular person’’s number, scan the newspaper ads for a job, but we do not scan a new book, report, manual, etc. if we want to master it. Scanning may be used as an after reading technique, but is not speed reading.

Key-wording is an old speed reading technique where the learner was told “don'’t focus on the unimportant words,” such as, “a”, “the,” “of.” This cannot be done.

Try this yourself: sit opposite someone who is about your height and look at their face. While you do this try to not see their nose. Sight, the mechanical part of reading, is impartial. Or in other words, you cannot not see something within your field of vision. Your mind may not register or respond to something your eyes see, but that is another issue. In fact, that again is the issue of comprehension which we have discussed.

Myth # 5 “You May Get Some Results At The End Of The Program, But They Don'’t Last.”

This is both true and false. Reading is a skill like other skills, when you don'’t do it for awhile, you will slow down. If you spent 5-10 years learning to play piano and then hadn'’t touched the piano for 10-20 years, you would get rusty. All it takes once you have mastered it is occasional practice. When buying a program, look for long term support and follow-up.

Myth # 6 “If You Look At the Naturally Fast Readers, Only Really Smart People Can Speed Read”

The truth is one of the things that made these folks smart was the fact that they were voracious readers. They loved to read. When you develop more ease with reading, you'’ll read more and enjoy it more, and learn more. When you read more, you'’ll naturally get smarter!

Now that these 6 major falsehoods of speed reading have been explained, what will you commit to do to deal with your information overload? In today’’s knowledge economy there is no other option but to learn a new approach to getting through the piles.

If you are committed to changing the old inefficient habits you are still dragging around with you, I encourage you to get help from a reputable organization that delivers the training with a personal touch. Trying to change your in-grained habits takes a dual commitment between the learner and the coach. A software program won'’t do this. Neither will a book, cd, dvd, or trying to learn it piecemeal using free internet sources that often have misinformation and myths well mixed into the brew.

From our 30 years of experience, I know that it is not a myth to be able to read in thousands of words per minute. I know that almost anyone can double, triple, quadruple their reading performance with proper training and support.

We welcome to explore your capabilities of learning this important set of skills and help you “Master the Information.”

Using Staged Pickup Lines On Women

By Terry Leslie

If you'’ve been browsing through books that offer fabulous pick-up lines or have been practicing on your friends or (God forbid) the dog, you are setting yourself up for a disappointing return on your time investment. After all, women seriously dislike the use of prepackaged pick-up lines. In fact, you should ditch the pick-up line altogether. Pick-up lines are a leftover from the seventies when guys were all kinds of thrown off by the women’’s lib movement. Come on out of the dark and learn to talk to a woman in a more effective and meaningful way that sets you up for much better results.

Women are turned on by a guy who knows how to make her feel valued, attractive, and altogether feminine and real. There is truly enough of every day junk for women to weed through. They aren'’t interested in picking through more when they go out. Pick-up lines are just that. Women do respond better to genuine interest, a guy that will listen, be interested, and of course interesting. When you approach a woman with a pre-packaged pick-up line, it sounds about as rehearsed as it did when you were practicing with the dog. Letting a woman know right off the bat that you can'’t be genuine is a really good way to turn her off completely.

Of course, any time you can make a woman laugh, you have scored a few points. Women absolutely find laughter one of the most sexy and enjoyable aspects of meeting someone new. But don'’t try too hard. Women also tend to know when your goal is to make them laugh, and see through lame attempts to be cute and jokes that fall flat. When women smile, a real genuine smile, you are on the right track. When women look at you with sarcasm in their eyes, or look bored and tired, you better give them something real because they are about to lose interest.

It should be noted that not all women are going to respond in the way that it seems like they should. Women carry things, and often we have to make up for the mistakes of others before we get a chance to come inside. Leave the pick-up line book behind, expect a good reception, and just ease into conversation on neutral ground. Once she seems even mildly interested, letting her know how attractive she is and how you could value her presence is a perfect way to ask her to open the door.

Fat Free Products Can Make You Fat

By Robert Bauer

If you trying to lose weight beware of certain “fat-free” or “low-fat” products. Even though they are low in fat it doesn'’t necessarily mean that they are low in calories. And, if they contain flour, they can cause you to gain weight.

White flour comes from grain which has been stripped of all its natural fiber and ingredients; it has little nutritional value and will cause you to gain weight.

Here’’s some really good news. If you do nothing more than stop eating all products made with flour you will lose weight.

White flour is a bad carbohydrate.

Now, here’’s why. White processed flour is similar to white sugar. It comes from grain which has been chemically treated during the growing process, stripped of all its natural fiber and nutrients, and chemically bleached to make it a pretty white. Not to mention pretty unhealthy.

It’’s a food that the body does not know how to digest. It has little nutritional value, spikes your insulin and can cause constipation. Yet the American Dietetic Association recommends we eat 8-11 servings of them in our daily diets. And that’’s not good advice.

The public has been programmed to believe that white flour products are healthy and should be part of your daily diet.

This is because they are low in fat, cholesterol and calories. People eat things like white bread, cereals, pasta, bagels, crackers and pretzels and believe they are eating healthy because some these foods are labeled “low-fat” or “fat-free”.

But what food manufacturers have failed to mention in their clever advertising is that these products have zero nutritional value and can lead to poor health. And most of them are chock full of bad carbohydrate calories which turn into fat.

This may surprise you; wheat bread is not any healthier for you than white bread.

They both have a high glycemic index rating of around 100 which is unhealthy. Even though wheat bread has been minimally processed and contains more fiber it is still full of the wrong carbohydrates that will turn to fat and cause you to gain weight.

If you are trying to lose weight stay away from whole wheat bread, whole grain bread, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat pancake mix, shredded wheat, wheat crackers, raisin bran, and the thousands of other wheat-containing products that promise health.

As many as 75 percent of overweight and obese people in the U.S. may be addicted - through poor eating habits - to either bad carbohydrates or the protein called gluten, which is a problematic protein present found in all wheat, whole wheat, wheat bran, rye, and barley products. Soy flour and corn bran do not contain gluten.

Stick to healthy foods if you want to lose weight

Stay away from flour products if you want to lose weight. Learn to substitute other healthy foods for flour products and you will see faster results for your weight loss program.

You may have difficulty eliminating all flour products from your diet overnight. If this is the case then start by staying away from snack foods made with flour.

Satisfy your cravings for unhealthy snacks and get your daily fiber by eating good and healthy carbohydrates like fruits and vegetables.

Eliminating flour products from your diet is one the quickest ways to lose weight. However, it’’s not easy to stop eating breads and snack foods. You can start by substituting other healthier snacks and be on your way to losing excess weight and improving your overall health.

This is not a joke, a piece of equipment, nor a magic diet… the powerful combination that is spoken of is simply diet and weight training.

I hope that didn'’t let your build up down. Weight training with proper diet is a powerful combination that not only melts the fat from your body, but increases your fat burning muscle. This combination is much greater than just weight training alone or dieting alone.

The first mistake that beginners make is run, run, and then run some more. Running will initially cause you to lose some fat, but after a short period of time the fat will actually begin to accumulate. Without consistent improvement on this running your metabolism will actually slow down.

The second mistake that beginners make on this journey is ignoring the hard work that is reworking your diet. The hardest part of going from obese to lean is taking your now diet and cutting out the crap.

In a study that took 40 obese women and put them through three different methods of weight loss… the same methods mentioned above…

- Only weight lifting
- Only diet
- Weight lifting and diet

So changing the diet is one of the hardest things to do; however, the women that changed just their diet…

- Lost 4.47 kg of weight - That seems pretty good
- Lost 3.56 kg of fat - That seems pretty good too
- Lost .91 kg of lean mass - Lean mass is muscle and that is real bad

Obviously changing just the diet has some desirable affects such as losing weight and fat, but losing muscle is not good. Less muscle will decrease your metabolism… and that can increase the speed at which fat accumulates.

The women who only took up weight training…

- Gained .45 kg of weight - Not so desirable
- Lost .62 kg of fat - Very desirable
- Gained 1.07 kg of lean mass - Very desirable

Weight training alone, in the short term, does not have the best affect you might want. This is to be expected and it also depends on the type of weight training. The good thing about the weight training is it increases you metabolism… that eats fat!

Those women that performed the combination of both diet and weight training accomplished…

- Lost 3.89 kg of weight - Very desirable
- Lost 4.32 kg of fat - Very desirable
- Gained .43 kg of lean mass - Very desirable

Now that is what I am talking about! Together the change in diet and weight training accomplished all of the desirable affects that any person obese or not would want. So now you know that to accomplish the fat and weight loss you desire you must change your diet and add weight training.

With social norms, cultures and traditions being eased upon and phased out as time goes, the mating game has become much more complex and complicated. Basically, fifty years ago the mating game was restricted to the movies, a day in the park and maybe a quiet dinner that ends at eight sharp. Only we know how the current scenario has changed. Because of this, there are several men today out there, who are just waiting to know you and vice versa.

Of course, not all of them have come directly out from a romantic novel, and getting attracted to them is as dangerous as getting attracted to a man destined to be hanged the next day. So, how do we attract good men, the men who know what true love and companionship is all about? Are there any books or written material on when will I get married? Well, they may or not be, but here are some tips on how to get a man addicted to you.

Good men are difficult to come by, and therefore you should take care not to lose them to anyone else, even your best girlfriend. First of all, understand that you will be able to meet and socialize with good men only in places of repute, like a university or a hospital.

Good men are few and far between. Unfortunately, no man walks with a board proclaiming whether he is good or bad, and it is only our experiences that teach us whether a man is good or bad. Deciding whether a man is good or bad is considerably more difficult than actually attracting a good man, because a good man has surprisingly very few requirements in the ladies department. How to attract a good man completely depends on the lifestyle and thought process of the man.

A good man would want his woman to be completely loyal to him. And true loyalty comes from true love. Therefore, once you have decided that you have got your man and now wish to settle with him, show him your loyalty and that will surely tilt the scales in your favor.

A good man would want his girlfriend to be intelligent but not over-smart, innocent but not dumb, stylish but not outrageous, in short, a good man would want his girlfriend to be one of the crowd and yet, have that special something in her that would make him smile as soon he sees her, and forget all his worries of the day.

A good man would not want his girlfriend to be the best in looks and the intelligence factor. What a good man would want in his girlfriend is a support that would enable him to proceed and progress against all odds, to provide for him and her and their future families.

These are just some select answers for the question “how to get guys in ten days”. However, you must know that there are several men in this world, and each is a world in himself.

Handle Your First Date Like a Pro

To borrow from Jeff Foxworthy:

“Ladies If you'’ve ever discussed your problems with commitment and intimacy before the appetizers have arrived, you might be a dating disaster.”

“If you'’ve ever played hard-to-get, then jumped into the sack at the first opportunity, you might be a dating disaster.”

Okay, so maybe that last one will make you some new friends, but it sure doesn'’t put you into the category of potential wife material! They say first impressions matter most, and this is especially true of first dates. This is your one chance to portray yourself in a good light so here’’s how to handle your first date like a pro.

First, start off with a casual location. If we have to put on a tie for the first date, you'’re already off on the wrong foot. Show off your fun side by taking us out to a sporting event bonus points if you like the same teams we do to an arcade, or to any other place that lets us have fun and get to know each other outside of a stuffy four-star restaurant.

Try to keep the conversation casual too. Sure, we men like to tease women for getting too intimate on the first date, but there’’s a grain of truth there. If things go well, there'’ll be plenty of time later on to talk about all your emotional baggage but nothing turns us off like a double helping of feelings on the first date. Stick to light subjects like your job, your hobbies or your pets.

Stay away from political territory. Although we might share the same views on politics, no man wants to spend two hours of your first date listening to the reasons why McCain would make the better president. In that same vein, stay away from religious subjects too.

Keep it short. Schedule an hour or two to meet up anything longer than this can drag on and on. We don'’t want to spend an evening trying to fill in uncomfortable silences or thinking of different ways to ask you about your favorite movies. Plus, if we really like you, we'’ll be pounding down your door to spend more time with you in the future.

Ending the date. Ah yes that awkward moment when we'’re standing on your doorstep. Do you play it safe or go in for the kiss or maybe even more? Here’’s the thing most guys love to score on the first date, but this automatically puts you in the “friends” pile. Play it safe and stick with a kiss invite us in once we'’ve spent more time together.

Don'’t play by the rules. Yes, we know you'’ve been told to wait for our phone call to schedule a second date. We know you'’ll be sitting by the phone for three days, worrying over whether or not you said exactly the right things. So do the unexpected call us back first if you'’re into us. We'’ll be relieved that the pressure’’s off and be flattered that you'’re interested enough to call first.
