Many families run on a two-income budget these days, and stress their way through each week worrying about bills, their children, missed family time and the like. What they don'’t realize is that both parents working outside the home could be costing them money, and running them deeper into debt.

Before deciding to take a job working outside the home, most people look at how much money they will be adding to their income each week. Let’’s make an example of Jill and Dan.

Dan works as a truck mechanic from 10-6 Monday thru Friday, and makes a fairly good income of $2,200 a month. He and Jill have three kids, ages 1,7 and 9, and money is tight.

Jill gets an opportunity to take a part-time receptionist job at a law firm. The position is 10-6 Monday, Wednesday and Fridays for $12 per hour, which would add an additional income of roughly $1,000 per month after taxes.

That sounds like a lot of money, especially for only part time, until you realize Jill is going to have expenses. The job is on the other side of town from Dan’’s, so carpooling is not an option. Also, Jill and Dan have no family nearby to take some of the childcare load, so that is another concern.

Payments on a second car are at least $200 per month. Chiseling away at that $1,000 pretty quick, isn'’t it? Now add in the full-coverage insurance for the second car ($100) and gasoline ($100 - conservative) and you are down $700 out of that $1,000.

Jill finds a daycare center that will give her a discount on after school care for her two older children, just $5 per day apiece, but the baby is a higher infant rate for three full days a week at $15 per day. That’’s another $300 a month. She had to look at a dozen daycares before she found one she felt she could leave the children at, and still feels nervous about not knowing the people watching her children.

Now we come to those pesky incidentals. If Jill doesn'’t brown-bag it, she can expect to spend $5 to $10 a day or more for lunch. If she buys a coffee in the morning that adds another expense. Don'’t forget the new clothes for the new job - even supposing Jill can find the money for the initial outlay, she may have dry-cleaning costs.

There will be days when the kids are sick. The school will insist that they be fever-free for at least 24 hours before returning to class. The daycare will not charge Jill and Dan for the older ones since they are only half day, but they have to pay the $45 per week for the baby whether he is there or not, or risk losing his spot in the class.

Unfortunately, Jill stands a good chance of being fired if she misses work too often - and of course she doesn'’t get paid if she doesn'’t show up. Money going out, none coming in. It’’s harder to keep the house clean, too; seems like she is always running on her days off, trying to catch up.

Traffic is also a concern. Sometimes Dan has to stay late, and Jill usually picks the kids up from daycare, which closes at 6:30. She usually makes it by 6:20, but if there is an accident on the freeway or a traffic jam down the street she might run late. The daycare center has a strict $1 per minute, per child penalty that really adds up when she is five minutes late.

The $1,000 is probably nonexistent by the end of the month. Jill and Dan might be able to break even if Jill takes the job, but it is more likely that her working outside the home will cost them money in the long run. Factor in the added stress for all members of the family when both parents are working outside the home, and it is hard to see where the benefit comes in.

A reasonable alternative is for Jill and Dan to sit down and look over their budget. Perhaps they can reduce the cable or phone bill, or cut down on eating out.

Shopping at consignment stores is a great way to dress nicely for half the cost, and learning to conserve water and energy can be a family project. Jill also might look into finding a job she can do from home; there are many opportunities available, and she would be able to care for her children as well.

Of course, all of these scenarios can also apply to stay-at-home dads. Not to say that both parents having outside jobs never works, especially when the children are older, but with little ones in the house choosing to be a stay-at- home mom (or dad) might actually make the most sense, financially and otherwise.

I'’ve always been impressed with guys who can get a womans number in a matter of minutes. I personally never found it to be all that easy. The problem I had was fear. I was afraid to even bother to ask for contact information. I'’ve since learned a few techniques that helped me out a great deal. I'’m going to teach you those techniques here is this article.

Step #1: Deal With Your Fears

Getting a womans contact information isn'’t particularly hard. The hard part is thinking that you can get her to give you her contact information.

The best way to overcome this is to simply do it anyways. Once a woman gives you her contact information you will start to believe that it is possible. You may also want to try some visualization techniques. Before, you approach her picture her giving you her number. Seeing it in your mind makes it easier to believe.

Step #2: Give Yourself A Time Limit

Here is the truth. It doesn'’t take a long conversation for you to say something stupid to her. But, the longer you talk to her the more likely you are to say something stupid to her. What you have to do is give yourself a time limit.

What the time limit does is force you to get her number and get out before you say anything stupid. The time limit also gets you to put some pressure on yourself to get to the point. I recommend that you talk for no longer then 3 minutes. 1 or 2 minutes is probably all you really need. If your a good conversationalist then you can talk as long as you want.

Step #3: Have A Plan

It will help you a great deal if you know how you want things to go. A general idea of what you want to say and when you will ask for her number is a good idea. If you like to meet women in grocery stores then come up with a few things you can say to women in grocery stores. The same works for any location.

You: Your the most beautiful woman I have ever seen in a bookstore.
Her: Thank you.
You: No problem. But don'’t let it go to your head.
Her: I won'’t.
You: I would like to stand here and talk to you, but I have some places I need to go. I would like to talk to you in the future though. Write your number down so we can meet up some time in the future.

Conclusion

Getting a womans number really can be that simple. The next problem will be talking to her over the phone and getting her to commit to a date. However, that is another article all together.

My mother and grandmother used to say, “Everything happens for a reason”. Frankly, I always thought that was just their way of getting me to accept when things didn'’t go my way. I heard it over and over again “Everything happens for a reason”.

But for the most part I thought it was just their way of gently letting me down. After a while I guess I just accepted it.

Does Everything Really Happen for a Reason?

Years later one of my brilliant mentors gave me additional perspective on this belief: everything happens for a reason and it serves me. I decided to explore this added nuance and began saying that phrase over and over.

When things didn'’t “go my way”, I would say, “OK, everything happens for a reason and it serves me.” Well, if it serves me, then show me how!

Hello, My Name is Anger

One day I was feeling particularly out of sorts and really angry about something and all of a sudden that phrase popped into my head. I thought, “OK, Anger, if it’’s true that everything happens for a reason and it serves me, then tell me why you'’re here! I want to know because it doesn'’t feel like you'’re helping me right now”.

And what came to mind was: “I'’m here to give you strength; to help you face whatever it is that you'’re so upset about. I'’m here to bring your awareness, energy and focus to whatever is troubling you. I'’m here to put you in a position of strength and focus so that you can say what needs to be said and do what needs to be done.”

After hearing those messages and having that awareness, I began to settle down and breathe more deeply. I became more relaxed and more prepared to address the situation in a much more powerful, calm and centered fashion.

I knew why Anger came and how it was meant to serve me. It wanted me to speak up. I was able to collect my thoughts, take appropriate action and say what I needed to say. Surprisingly, without any anger, hostility or resentment.

Fascinated by this experience, I paid attention to other emotions and how they too were there to serve me. I gradually realized that I possessed an Internal Guidance System, a 7th Sense, linked to my emotions.

It was natural, automatic and well-intentioned. When I pay attention to my 7th Sense, I am well served. When I don'’t, I usually encounter trouble!

You Too Have a 7th Sense!

After years of exploration and testing, a technique for communicating with the 7th Sense unfolded. People who tapped into their 7th Sense experienced greater power, centeredness and resourcefulness.

The results of these sessions have been uplifting. In every case, every emotion, even the most painful, revealed its positive intention and service.

Once understood and accepted, the emotion could be released. And if it ever arose again the person knew why it was there and what is was guiding them to do. All they had to do was recognize its intended service and it was gone as quickly as it had come.

In some cases, patterns of all-consuming rage were wiped out. In others, feelings of fear, self-doubt or depression were gone in one session.

In some people with physical pain accompanying the emotions, the pain was also released along with the emotion. I can think of at least three clients with long-term Rheumatoid Arthritis who were pain free and remained so after one or two 7th Sense sessions.

In each case, after the release of rage, fear, self-loathing or whatever specific emotion the person was dealing with, a feeling of power and greater certainty came in its place. When limiting emotional patterns, like anxiety, stress or depression were released people found they were able to handle things that used to upset or derail them with ease and confidence.

So the next time anger, fear, self-doubt, frustration, confusion or virtually anything upsetting arises in you, ask: “Why are you here? How are you supposed to serve me?” The answers will surely surprise and liberate you.

Many of us fall into the trap of seeking happiness through material possessions or external circumstances many of which are beyond our control. It is as if there is a voice in our brains saying the words “if only.”

If only I had a better job, a bigger house, friends, lovers, fame, cars, boats, and so on, I would be happy. Happiness can appear to be an elusive thing, just out of reach, just beyond the boredom of our common lives.

Many have pondered the secret to happiness and have found that happiness by and large does not center on material possessions. Researchers have found that once the basic human needs are met, affluent people are really not happier than the rest of us.

So what is the secret to happiness? Perhaps no one knows that for sure but a group of researchers at the University of Wisconsin, Madison may have taken a step toward finding out. It seems that the phenomenon known as neuroplasticity may play a role in learning to be happy.

The researchers investigated a group of subjects'’ brains by using a new kind of scanning device called fMRI or functional MRI. This device is capable of showing the blood flow to specific areas of the brain. It allows scientists to peer into one’’s brain to see which parts are active at any point in time.

The researchers used monks who performed at least 10,000 hours of compassion meditation to train a group of subjects. One group of subjects was trained in compassion meditation while another control group was told to think positively about loved ones.

Both groups were then subjected to stimuli while being scanned. The subjects were exposed to the same stimulus consisting of negative and positive human voices. Some voices were designed to evoke empathy and others were neutral.

The results showed increased function in the insula, an area of the brain associated with emotions in the group trained in meditation. There was also increased function in another part of the brain, the temporal parietal juncture which has been associated with empathy.

So what are the implications of this study? Well, for one if you deeply practice an emotional state your brain will respond by becoming more functional in activating that state. This is very similar to learning new skills like a tennis serve or golf swing, only instead of developing the motor areas you develop the emotional areas.

This means that happiness and all of the healing properties associated with it can actually be learned through meditation. Meditation and guided imagery have been shown to facilitate healing primarily through the connection between the mind and body. The mind acts like a source of information and this information is carried to the tissues to the body via the nervous and endocrine systems.

Negative emotional states like depression and stress have been associated with illness while positive states tend to facilitate health. Techniques to improve emotional states may have a powerful influence on overall health and healing. So far many of these techniques center on guided imagery or psychotherapy.

It may be that compassion meditation may be another tool in the mind-body healing arsenal. Compassion is central to the teachings of Buddism and the Dali Lama.

Compassion meditation helps an individual perceive relationships with others in a more positive way. For example let’’s say that you are waiting in a long line and someone cuts in front of you. Instead of thinking about what a jerk this person is you could think about the action in terms of what could have happened to this person that he would treat others this way. Or you could work to be non-judgmental about the event.

What is interesting is that this technique can be learned and actually causes physical changes in the brain. So to be happier, be compassionate. You will be rewarded with a happier and healthier life.

Don'’t you just wish you could have those sleek and sexy abs that you see on all the top models and celebrities? Don'’t feel alone, all of us want to have abs like that. It doesn'’t happen overnight just like the few extra pounds that we have piled on didn'’t happen overnight either.

You can get the abs that you desire. You have to make a commitment to yourself to do the exercises necessary on a regular basis. If you do it won'’t be long before you have the sexy celebrity abs displayed by Liz Hurley, Denise Richards and Cheryl Crow just to name a few.

The Pilates method is based on core strength and full body integration and it is really used by celebrities to give them the sleek sexy toned abs that we would like to have.

Here are the 3 basic exercises that will recruit and engage the deepest layer of the abdominals and give you the celebrity sleek sexy abs you desire.

Exercise 1. Chest Lift
Lying on your back with your feet flat on the floor with your knees bent, place your hands behind your head keeping your elbows out to the side throughout the movement.
Exhaling pull your belling button into your spine and beyond, allow your lower back to relax into the mat, tip your chin forward and allow stomach muscles to pull your shoulders up off the mat. Pause at the top, inhale and bring your abs in even deeper. Then exhale and with the abs pulled in slowly lower to the starting position. Inhale and release your abs. Repeat 8 to 10 times

Tip 1: To prevent any movement of the pelvis the engagement of the pelvic floor is required. This results in working the transverse abdominals.

Exercise 2. The Hundred
Lying on your back with your knees bent, arms are straight overhead, exhale and using your abs bring your head up and chin down while curling your upper back off the floor. Inhale. Exhale and pull the abs in further and extend your legs and bring your arms down to your side keeping your hands a few inches off the floor (if your legs shake, you should raise them until they stop), keeping your low back on the floor.
Hold the position take 5 breathes in and out and at the same time move your arms up in down in short pumping motions. Be sure to keep you neck and shoulders relaxed as the abdominal muscles should be doing the work not your neck and back. Now bring your knees in towards your chest and place the hands back behind them again as you roll your upper back and head back to the floor. Repeat 8 to 10 times.

Tip 2: As you become more adept you can lower your legs for more challenge, only remember to keep your legs at a level that you can still control them. Also for those that have neck or back problems this exercise can be performed with the knees bent and the feet flat on the floor.

Exercise 3. Double Straight Leg Lower and Lift
Lying on your back extend your legs straight up to the ceiling, straighten your legs outwards making sure that your heels remain together and that your inner thighs are contracted. Interlace your hands behind your head and elbows out to the side inhale and pull your abs in towards your spine, Lift your head and chest off the floor.
Remain in this position throughout the course of the exercise, inhale and with your abs pulled in, slowly lower your legs from the hips towards the floor, going only as far as you can keep control and body alignment. Use your abs for control and keep your back on the mat and do not pull on your neck and head with your hands and elbows. Exhale, exerting more control on the abs slowly bring your legs back to the starting position. Repeat 8 to 10 times.

Tip 3: This is a very hard exercise, so you may want to work up to it by starting with your head flat on the floor and your arms out to the side for balance.

Choosing a place to live after retirement was never been simpler! Would-be retirees have two great options in front of them. They can spend the life in the US or can consider buying a house outside their country.

It is a fact that most people find their budget inadequate for covering costs of quality retirement living options in the United States as the prices have really rocketed these days. Although the housing industry has witnessed a downturn in recent years, it is still expensive. Most Americans now fear that they shall not be able to afford the retirement they have always dreamt of.

It is regrettable that the costs of finer retirement living alternatives supersede the financial resources of the average retiree. As a consequence, many Americans are considering leaving the country to find a retired life which is affordable to them. Thinking outside the box or thinking beyond America simplifies matters as it cuts down drastically on options and expenses. Thinking outside the box means, thinking outside the US.

Of late, the editors of Live and Invest Overseas have noted six different places which are great options for residing after retirement by spending less than $1500 a month. Panama is first on this list meaning Panama is the best place to settle down after retirement.

Panama is passing a golden time with high economic growth and smooth political stability. The first world alike infrastructure and high standards of living shows Panama’’s strong and thriving economic growth. Over the last few decades, Panama’’s geographic location attracted retired people from the US and Europe to settle down. The retired people also find it extremely easy to shop in Panama as its local currency is the US dollar.

Panama offers a lot of offshore islands where retired people can relax in the beaches. The country has the most stunning pristine beaches in the world. As tropical climate remains all over the country, Panama is the best choose to enjoy a soothing weather. Additionally, Panama offers a wide range of tourist attractions and gambling facilities.

As Panama is the best place to settle down after retirement, the housing companies of the United States became interested in the discovery of Panamas valued real estate properties. These days, many US based companies are coming in and investing in Panamas real estate sector. However, local real estate companies are very efficient and offer lucrative prices. A retired person can get a luxurious apartment or a single family house with half of the price compared to buying the same in the US.

Overall, Panama has got everything that would be retired people seek before settling down.

Is My Nanny Cam Legal?

By sharon macdonald

Like many parents, you may be considering a hidden or covert camera to record the interaction and behavior of your babysitter and your children while you'’re away. As you can see these so-called nanny cams or spy cams can be hidden in a variety of household objects and record activity without even a glimmer of suspicion on the part of your child care provider.

But is it legal? Are you risking criminal charges or a civil lawsuit by taping your sitter? The answer is yes, your nanny cam in most instances is perfectly legal. There are a few details which should be brought to your attention and discussed with an attorney licensed in your state if you have additional questions.

Visible video cameras (not hidden in any way) are generally not illegal if they are in a non-private place like the kitchen or living areas of your home. If the camera records sound as well as video, you must comply with federal and state wiretapping and eavesdropping laws. You will need consent of one or all parties to any recorded conversation, depending on your jurisdiction. Most states will allow you, the parent, to consent to the recording on behalf of your minor child. You will need to check on audio recording laws for more information about the necessary consent to an audio recording.

Hidden cameras (often referred to in the media as nanny cams or spy cams) are still usually okay from a legal point of view, unless the babysitter has a reasonable expectation of privacy. There is a federal law which makes it a crime to secretly capture photo or video images of people in places and situations in which they have an expectation of privacy, such as bathrooms, dressing rooms, locker rooms, hotel rooms and tanning salons. Most states now have similar laws. So, you definitely can'’t record the nanny in the bathroom and probably not in her bedroom if she lives in with your family.

Most experts agree that you shouldn'’t wait until you suspect some sort of abuse or neglect of your child before getting a nanny cam. If you install one before the nanny is hired and inform her that she may be monitored, your nanny cam may act as a deterrent to misconduct or abuse instead of an investigative tool. In fact, many nannies have no problem with nanny camera monitoring as long as they know about it or at least about the possibility that it is there. They often are offended however by secret, hidden cameras.

So, at the end of the day, you will need to balance the legal and ethical issues related to nanny cam recording. Reasonable video surveillance, especially if done without sound, is legal in every state as long as you stay out of the bathroom and the bedroom. Now you'’ve just got to decide whether or not to disclose the existence and/or location of the camera to the babysitter before you switch it on.

Losing weight can be a demanding and challenging task, and when finally you have achieved your weight loss goal, how do you maintain that sheer success and keep those extra pounds off for good? Here are some pure and simple suggestions:-

Mindset

Firstly, you need to condition your thinking patterns into believing and accepting that you will keep that weight off after a successful weight loss goal has been achieved. Those set thoughts will assist you greatly in developing healthy eating habits that will help you maintain a trim and healthy body. Self affirmation; visualizations and meditation can help you to get into the right frame of mind to achieve this end. By developing the right mindset, you can keep yourself from reaching out to grab the next mouthful of your favorite custard pudding at the next family get-together!

Eating Habits

The next thing you need to do is to make sure that you maintain that diet lifestyle that you used previously to lose all that weight. Obviously, you had made certain changes in your food intake and eating habits in order to gain that considerable success in your weight loss program. It is time now to permanently inculcate those habits in your lifestyle. Whatever you do, if you get back to your old eating habits, you will most definitely pack on the extra pounds or even more again. This in time, due to the metabolic and chemical changes that occurred in your body during the initial dieting, will make it harder to lose them the second time around.

Exercise

Without proper exercise, you will never be able to achieve this long term success in your efforts to lose weight. This is a crucial step in any weight loss program. You have to choose the right exercise that you can enjoy, have loads of fun doing it and gives you a great workout at the same time. There are numerous exercises you can select from but do talk to your physician before embarking on any rigorous physical activity.

Support Group

At times, what you need is that extra dose of motivation to keep you going on your weight loss program. A public proclamation isn'’t always necessary, but putting your integrity and your pride at stake by sharing your weight loss goals with a few of your closest friends or family members can go a long way to keep you focused on those weight loss program. Remember to choose wisely, and do not share them with those who have a negative attitude and who will most likely dampen your enthusiasm to lose weight.

Losing weight can be an exhilarating process, if you know the right way to do it and have fun in the process. Remember, you will always have to gravitate towards things that brings you pleasure, and if you want to make your success in weight loss permanent, make the process fun and rewarding by taking the necessary step to inculcate these four tips we share into your lifestyle.

Acne Medication And Treatment

By Robert Kokoska

When I was an adolescent it was believed that a poor diet contributed to aggravating acne outbreaks. Now over twenty years later I have read many articles and books that stated that diet has no little to no effect at all on acne. So in other words diet as a natural treatment for acne does not have a positive or negative effect. For years we have been strictly told that we are what we eat and I believe that our skin is a reflection of our health and therefore a natural acne treatment is often a cure for some people.

It is said that for many people with other more severe outbreaks, home remedies for the treatment of thier acne are not a solution for their problems. This is usually encouraged by the sale of expensive and ongoing medications to treat a a problem that could be taken care of relatively inexpensively. There are prescription acne medications that you take by mouth as well as prescribed topical medications that may help more serious acne problems. Some of them work as a treatment but never an acne cure and some are known to have horrible side effects.

The problem with taking many prescribed acne medications is that they can have many uncomfortable side effects where as natural acne treatments rarely have any at all. Sometimes your body adjusts to the acne medications that you are taking and the effects diminish over time, however, the other downside is that when you have stopped taking acne medications your outbreaks start all over again. Herbal acne products and medications normally do not have this effect. Home remedies for acne specifically tea tree oil, Benzoyl peroxide and good old fashion tooth paste worked better than the most expensive prescribed acne medications and you did not have to worry about scaring like you sometimes do with harsh prescription acne medications.

People with severe acne problems are often prescribed an aggressive acne treatment using strong antibiotics to take care of the bacteria problem that may be causing and aggravating their acne. The problem with using antibiotics like tetracycline as an acne treatment is your body builds up an immunity over time to the acne medication and no longer works and causes more bacteria to grow therefore causing breakouts and often worse than before. The good thing is a natural acne treatment may be the best because your bodies immune system heals itself. Fruits and vegetables, fish, chicken can all become a natural acne treatment.

It is best to make wise choices when it comes to choosing an acne treatment. Remember that there are many wonderful products on the market but you have to be careful to create for yourself the best natural acne treatment for you. Your skin may not respond the same way to some treatments for acne as it may have for someone else. So be wise, be watchful and be aware and don'’t think that your acne can'’t be treated because a certain product failed for you in the past. It just means you need to try another sort of treatment.

Arthritis Affects Millions Of People

By Gregory Wadel

Treatment for psoriatic arthritis is similar to that for other forms of the disease. This includes nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (aspirin and ibuprofen, for example), heat, exercise, and physical therapy.

Treatment for psoriatic arthritis is meant to control the skin lesions of psoriasis and the joint inflammation of arthritis. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs , gold salts, and sulfasalazine are standard arthritis treatments, but have no effect on psoriasis. Treatment and proper hair styling can help a woman to cope.

Treatment, therefore, aims at reducing your pain and discomfort and preventing further disability.

Patients with recent joint injuries or surgery, or patients receiving medications injected directly into a joint are also at a greater risk for developing septic arthritis. Typically, women and male homosexuals are at greater risk for septic arthritis than are male heterosexuals.

Patients must be randomly assigned to take either the substance in question or a look-alike inactive or comparison remedy, and neither patients nor evaluating physicians can know who is on what until the study is completed.

And, while positive results from good studies continue to be published in Europe, there are still no published results of such studies in people on this side of the Atlantic. Patients should go early to bed and have plenty of rest, sunshine and fresh air . It is important that the diet should be nourishing and plentiful, and should there be intestinal putrefaction fermented milk is useful.

Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis. It is called a degenerative joint disease because it results from the deterioration of the bones and cartilage that make up the joints.

Osteoarthritis can also follow significant trauma, so avoiding broken bones or other major injuries (to the extent this is possible), may reduce the risk of osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis, for example, can feature pain that is worst at night, or following a period of rest. Rheumatoid arthritis will generally cause most pain in the morning and in its early stages.

Osteoarthritis, from the word osteo, meaning bone, is caused by the wear and tear of the cartilage in the joint area which leads to inflammation. The destruction of the bone can occur when there is mechanical stress to the area.

Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic (long-lasting) disorder that is often characterized by flares (worsening of symptoms) and remissions (improvement in symptoms). In approximately 80% of cases, psoriatic arthritis also involves the fingernails and toenails (e.g., loosening of the nails, development of ridges and pits).

Psoriatic arthritis Psoriatic arthritis is a potentially serious inflammatory form of arthritis that is often found in association with psoriasis. Because it may begin and progress insidiously, it can cause serious problems.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by inflammation of the lining, or synovium, of the joints. It is one of the most severe forms of arthritis and can lead to long-term joint damage, resulting in chronic pain, loss of function and disability. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a type of inflammatory arthritis, is an autoimmune disorder.

The onset of rheumatoid arthritis is associated with physical or emotional stress, poor nutrition, and bacterial or fungal infection of a joint. Rheumatoid arthritis also breaks down and erodes away the cartilage and bones in the affected joints. This erosion cannot be seen and is measured by x-rays.

Rheumatoid arthritis often starts in middle age and is most common in older people. But children and young adults can also get it. Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory disease that causes pain, swelling, stiffness, and loss of function in the joints. It has several special features that make it different from other kinds of arthritis.
